The Power Of Residual Affiliate Programs

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

Another profitable type of affiliate programs is the residual income affiliate program or lifetime commission payout program.

These are usually programs that offer a service to the buyer for a monthly fee of which you get a commission off the recurring fee as long as the buyer stays as a member.

Residual affiliate programs usually pay only a small percentage of sales commission for every sale directed by the affiliate to the merchant’s site.  Because of this, many people ignore the residual affiliate program and rather go for the high paying one-time commission affiliate program, which is known as linear income.

They are not wrong, but they are ignorant of the exponential benefits of residual income. Residual income also known as passive, or recurring income, is income that continues to be generated after the initial effort has been expended. In residual income affiliate program, instead of a one-time only commission, you’ll earn commissions on every re-order and monthly subscription fee, for as long as the customer remains as a member.

And these programs may turn out to be a huge profit center when you recruit a large number of subscribers over time through your affiliate link.

There are different levels or tiers in the affiliate network by which payments are made. In a single-tier affiliate marketing program, the affiliates are only paid one level based on the direct sales or traffic he has bring in.

In two-tier or multiple-tier affiliate marketing programs, the affiliate is not only paid for the direct lead or sales that he refers to the merchant, but also paid on every lead or sales referred by other affiliates who joined through his affiliate link. Sometimes, the affiliate gets additional compensation for a wider number of affiliates growth in different tiers of the network. It means that for the same effort of getting one customer to the product or service, you get paid on re-order, monthly subscription and also leverage on other people to create income for you.

So, in long run, residual affiliate programs virtually get more money than one-time payment affiliate programs. So, with the benefits that residual affiliate marketing can provide, it would really be unwise to ignore such programs.

The different affiliate marketing programs would virtually work differently and each would generally have their own list of benefits. Which type of affiliate marketing programs will work best for you? Could it be better if you can have a combination of both?
